KatadataOTO – The presence of Chery Group in Indonesia is claimed to be much better compared to when it arrived in 2022. At that time, the trust of the public and business partners was considered quite weak.

This is inseparable from the negative sentiment that they had previously entered and then left Indonesia. As a result, they had difficulty expanding because they did not have dealers with good facilities.

“But now Chery Group has a very good foundation, so our dealer partners also trust us very much. Therefore, creating outlets with good facilities has become much easier,” said Shawn Xu, CEO of Omoda & Jaecoo International to the media some time ago.

This is proven by the high sales figures for Chery cars in Indonesia, which reached 15,104 units from January to September 2025. This figure is higher than their achievement in the same period last year, when they only achieved retail sales of 5,969 units.

This situation also makes it easier for them to build a new brand like Jaecoo. This is because Jaecoo will target the premium segment, so the market segment and customer needs will be different.

Based on Gaikindo data, this brand has already achieved retail sales of 464 units. This figure is quite high considering that not many models have been offered for sale yet.

However, this situation has the potential to change for the better. This is because Jaecoo has already introduced several models for the domestic market, such as the J8, J7, and the newest J5 EV.

The presence of these three models will be supported by the increasing number of outlets they are opening in the country. Impressively, at least 30 dealers will be opened by the end of 2025.

This number consists of 1S to 3S dealers in various regions, not just in the capital city. This step is expected to make it easier for customers to access Jaecoo services in the future.

“Indeed, there were some obstacles, for example in September 2025 we did not hold an opening because of a belief that this month is not good for holding events. Well, it is hoped that this situation will no longer exist,” explained Setia Hariadi, Head of Dealer Network Development for Jaecoo Indonesia on a separate occasion
