PT CSI is starting to target fleet customers for the Chery J6, with the potential for it to be used as a ride-hailing fleet in the future.
KatadataOTO – The electric car Chery J6 is currently one of the best-selling models offered by PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia). To date, its retail sales figures have surpassed 2,000 units.
A number of Chinese electric car manufacturers in the country are also offering their units to fleet customers, including for use as online taxis.
Seeing a great opportunity there, Chery has expressed interest in preparing the Chery J6 for use as public transportation.
“Of course, we are thinking about that as well. In the world of transportation, there is a shift or movement, because EVs (electric vehicles) are very efficient,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI in Jakarta some time ago.
According to him, the operational costs of electric cars are also much lower compared to conventional vehicles. This makes it a profitable and potential option for taxi companies.
In the future, he confirmed that Chery will offer the J6 electric car for this purpose.
“We need to capture this market opportunity. We will prepare for it in the future,” said Budi.
When asked about fleet customers in other segments such as the plantation or mining industries, Budi revealed that the interest is not yet significant.
“For mining, it's quite significant at their executive level. There are already dozens in Sumatra and Kalimantan, in plantations and mining,” he said.
Fleet customers in these areas have started to switch to using electric vehicles as operational cars.
The infrastructure is still relatively limited, but it is supported by the Chery J6's claimed capable range for mobility there, as well as relying on charging stations at dealerships.
“They have been distributed. Because we have dealerships in Sumatra and Kalimantan,” he affirmed.
For your information, orders for the Chery J6 have surged, causing potential buyers who purchase now to patiently wait on a waiting list.
There are four variants offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. Additionally, the special Phantom Edition has a sportier, all-black appearance.
The Chery J6 is offered starting from Rp 505.5 million on the road in Jakarta. Meanwhile, the highest variant is sold for Rp 608 million.
