Chery PHEV Cars Increasingly Popular with Consumers Outside Jakarta

KatadataOTO – PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has just opened its 69th dealership in Bintaro, South Tangerang. There are two Chery outlets in the area.

In addition to making it easier for consumers outside Jakarta to purchase and service their vehicles, Chery mentioned that its Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology, or Chery Super Hybrid (CSH), is starting to attract buyers.

This includes buyers from areas outside Jakarta, especially South Tangerang. PHEVs appear to be an attractive alternative between conventional engine cars and electric cars.

“We are now seeing (product variants) like CSH becoming one of the backbones of (Chery's) sales,” said Sulistyo Nugroho, Head of Dealer Network at PT CSI, when met in Tangerang on Wednesday (17/12).

Currently, there are two Chery products with PHEV technology, namely the Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9. Meanwhile, the regular hybrid type is the Tiggo Cross CSH.

The Chery Tiggo 8 CSH can be considered a pioneer of affordable PHEVs, starting from the Rp 500 million range. Previously, the price tag for PHEVs in the country was in the range of Rp 1 billion and above.

Take the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport PHEV for example. The model is sold for Rp 1.15 billion, close to other electric cars like the bZ4X.

Thus, the presence of the Tiggo 8 CSH is a breath of fresh air for consumers who want to own a car with PHEV technology.

With the positive response from consumers outside Jakarta, the presence of the Chery dealership in Tangerang can greatly help boost sales figures.

However, he was reluctant to explicitly mention which model would be the sales mainstay in the South Tangerang area and its surroundings.

“I think all variants, be it Electric Vehicle (EV) or CSH, are evenly distributed. So there is nothing specific,” Sulistyo affirmed.

For your information, the newest Chery Graha Raya dealership is already a 3S facility, meaning it provides service, sales, and spare parts for consumers in South Tangerang.

The outlet was built on a 3,193 m2 plot of land, with a building area of 1,345 m2. In the back area, there is a service bay capable of accommodating up to six vehicles.

Available facilities include wheel alignment and balancing, as well as EV charging for users of Chery's electric and PHEV cars.

Chery's flagship product lineup is also presented there, including the Chery J6, J6T, Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 8 CSH, and Tiggo 9 CSH.
