KatadataOTOChery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has been quite aggressive in marketing new cars to consumers in the country. They have offered a number of products since the beginning of the year.

Starting from the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH, C5 and E5, Tiggo 9 CSH, Tiggo Cross CSH to the Tiggo Sport. All were presented to entice domestic consumers.

The launch of this series of new Chery cars was also expected to boost the sales of the Chinese manufacturer.

However, bad luck befell them. In July 2025, Chery's sales plummeted quite sharply.

Referring to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), Chery was only able to deliver 1,705 units from dealers to consumers (retail sales) last month.

When comparing the July figures with June 2025, there was a significant decrease of 20.7 percent from 2,150 units.

For your information, sales in June were the highest in 2025. However, that result did not last long.

Chery was unable to maintain its performance in the domestic four-wheeled vehicle market. Thus, they had to swallow a bitter pill last month.

Even though in July 2025 there was GIIAS 2025 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. However, the exhibition was apparently not able to help them.

Therefore, Chery must work extra hard to boost their new car sales in the remainder of 2025.

For your information, Chery is one of the manufacturers that has lowered its product prices. For example, the Omoda E5, when launched in February 2024, was priced at Rp 498.8 million On The Road (OTR) Jakarta.

Now they have dropped the Omoda name, so the product is only called Chery E5. Then for the cheapest variant, the Pure, it is sold for Rp 369.9 million while the regular type is Rp 399.9 million.

This means the price reduction for this Chery car ranges from Rp 98.9 million to Rp 129 million.

However, this effort did not immediately entice the public to use this product from China.

Chery must be more aggressive and implement other strategies besides slashing prices to attract domestic consumers,

Chery Sales in 2025

  • January: 1,198 units
  • February: 1,327 units
  • March: 1,521 units
  • April: 1,549 units
  • May: 2,067 units
  • June: 2,150 units
  • July: 1,705 units
  • Total: 11,517 units
  • Market share: 2.5 percent
