Chery Tiggo 5X Production No Longer a Priority Since New Models Arrived

KatadataOTO – Although they admit that the Chery Tiggo 5X is still being sold, its lifespan may not be long. This is because the Chinese manufacturer currently also has the Tiggo Cross, which is present in a similar segment.

Not only that, the Chery Tiggo 5X has also disappeared from the official website, further strengthening rumors that the model will be replaced.

“Currently, we are still marketing the Chery Tiggo 5X. But we'll leave it to the market to decide whether demand is still high or if it's sufficient to be replaced by the Tiggo Cross,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT Chery Sales Indonesia (07/03).

He emphasized that they are still selling the Tiggo 5X and monitoring its movement in the market. However, he admitted that its production is not prioritized as it was before.

“Currently, we are prioritizing the production of the Tiggo Cross first because the demand is very high. So now we have to focus on providing units,” he asserted.

It was previously reported that Chery changed its strategy in marketing the Tiggo 5X. One of these changes involves making dealers the spearhead for the model's marketing.

This step was taken because the brand holder will focus more on marketing the Tiggo Cross, which is a new product and thus requires additional attention.

It should be noted that the Tiggo 5X officially went on sale in June 2024 and was targeted to sell 1,000 units by the end of 2024. Unfortunately, that hope has not been achieved because as of January 2025, only 904 units have been released to the market.

Even though the model comes with an attractive and quite sporty design. This is thanks to the inclusion of a chrome-plated Diamond Shaped Grille paired with LED technology Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Inside the cabin, the Chery Tiggo 5X is dominated by the color black, giving it a sporty impression. For entertainment, the Chinese manufacturer has installed a 10.25-inch head unit.

The car is equipped with a 1,500 cc engine capable of producing 111.4 hp at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 2,750 rpm.

Several modern features have also been installed in the car, such as the Remote Start-up System. With this feature, the owner can simply press the Lock button on the key for about five seconds from a distance of up to 1.2 meters, and the engine will start automatically.
