Chery Tiggo 5X Removed from Official Website, But Still Available for Sale

KatadataOTO – Chery Tiggo 5X suddenly disappeared from the official website. Its position seems to have been replaced by the Tiggo Cross, which was recently launched by the manufacturer at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025.

Rumors that sales were discontinued and replaced by the Tiggo Cross immediately circulated. However, this was denied when KatadataOTO tried to contact the company.

“The Chery Tiggo 5X is still being sold and is even still in production,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing at PT Chery Sales Indonesia, to KatadataOTO (26/02).

He did, however, admit that the Chery Tiggo 5X was intentionally removed from the website because the strategy has slightly changed to adapt to market needs.

“The marketing focus for the Chery Tiggo 5X is more on the dealers, while the company will focus on the Tiggo Cross since it's a new product. So, all models are still being sold, but the strategy has been adjusted,” he then added.

Regarding the overlapping segments, Ilham explained that both models have actually established their own markets. The customer base for each is different, especially in terms of age.

“The Tiggo 5X appeals to adults over 35 who prioritize functionality. Meanwhile, the Tiggo Cross is usually for the younger generation who highly prioritize design,” he added.

It should be noted that the Tiggo 5X was officially launched in June 2024 and is designed with compact yet sporty dimensions. This is thanks to the inclusion of a chrome-plated Diamond Shaped Grille paired with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Inside the cabin, the Chery Tiggo 5X is dominated by the color black, giving it a sporty impression. For entertainment, the Chinese manufacturer has installed a 10.25-inch head unit.

This car is equipped with a 1,500 cc engine capable of producing 111.4 hp at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 2,750 rpm.

Several modern features have also been installed in the car, such as a Remote Start-up System. Thanks to this, the owner only needs to press the Lock button on the key for about five seconds from up to 1.2 meters away, and the engine will start automatically.
