Chery Tiggo 8 CSH is expected to sell 1,000 units per month

KatadataOTO – The Chery Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) hybrid car was launched in Indonesia not long ago. Its price of Rp 499 million makes it the cheapest PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in the country.

Since its debut, PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) claims there have been more than 500 orders for the Tiggo 8 CSH, indicating a positive consumer response to Chery's latest hybrid technology.

Although the automotive market has not fully recovered, Chery is confident in setting a high sales target for the Tiggo 8 CSH in the country.

“Our sales target for the Tiggo 8 CSH is 1,000 units per month. Of course, looking at the current enthusiasm, it's not impossible for this number to increase,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI in West Jakarta some time ago.

According to Budi, his party had already predicted that demand for the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH would surge. Especially after its selling price was announced to the public.

Therefore, amidst weakening purchasing power, he is confident that the positive sales trend of the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH can be maintained, contributing 50 percent of Chery's total monthly target of 2,000 units. 

As of April, Chery's overall retail sales were 1,549 units, a slight increase from March 2025's 1,521 units. 

“The technology we offer, the best hybrid at a competitive price, we had a hunch this would be a game changer in Indonesia,” Budi affirmed.

The price of the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH is Rp 499 million but is limited to the first 1,000 customers. The price will return to the normal Rp 519 million after that.

“The 1,000-customer limit has no time frame. But since as of yesterday there were already more than 500 SPK (Vehicle Order Letters), it's very fast, it could be that in a few days the first 1,000 (purchases) will be completed,” said Budi.

The Chery Tiggo 8 CSH is expected to popularize PHEV technology in the country, which was previously associated with high prices.

For comparison, models like the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport PHEV and Mazda CX-80 PHEV are sold for over Rp 1 billion OTR (On The Road) Jakarta.

Thus, the Tiggo 8 CSH is claimed to be an attractive alternative for consumers who want to use an environmentally friendly PHEV.

Unlike conventional hybrids, a PHEV can be filled with gasoline and also charged. So it has a pure battery or EV (Electric Vehicle) mode range, offering extra mileage without the help of gasoline.
