Chery Tiggo 8 CSH Sells 2,000 Units, Popular Among Regional Consumers

KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) claims to have received a positive response to their first PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in the country.

Since its launch, Chery has stated that orders have reached 2,000 units. 600 of them have been delivered to consumers and are CKD (Completely Knocked Down), meaning they are locally assembled.

It should be noted that the price of the Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) was initially Rp 499 million. However, for every 1,000 orders, the price gradually increased to the Rp 509 million range.

Then, when it reaches 3,000 units, the price of the Tiggo 8 CSH will return to the normal price of Rp 519 million OTR (On The Road) Jakarta.

Interestingly, this time many of the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH buyers are consumers from outside the Jabodetabek area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi).

“The Tiggo 8 CSH contributes almost 50 percent from outside Jabodetabek. Previously, EVs (Electric Vehicles) were concentrated in Jabodetabek,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI in North Jakarta, on Tuesday (17/05).

He revealed that PHEVs are more popular in the regions due to infrastructure reasons. Considering that outside of Jabodetabek, public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) are still limited.

PHEVs are said to offer a solution for consumers who want to experience the quiet and efficient sensation of driving an electric car without losing the reliability of a gasoline engine.

“For traveling in suburban areas or out of town, of course, choosing an HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), in this case, the CSH, is a sensible option,” said Budi.

With the high demand for the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH, Budi revealed that prospective customers who place an order now may have to patiently wait on a waiting list.

“Of course, they will have to wait approximately two weeks to one month. We are ramping up production for the CSH because we don't want a repeat of what happened with the J6,” he emphasized.

For your information, the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH is equipped with a 1,500 cc turbocharged engine, capable of producing 342 hp and a peak torque of 525 Nm, delivered to the front two wheels.

Equipped with an 18.3 kWh battery, this car is said to be able to travel up to 90 km without the assistance of the engine. Meanwhile, the total range with a full battery and a full tank of gasoline can reach 1,300 km.
