KatadataOTO – PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) is once again trying to popularize Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology in Indonesia through the presence of their new product, the Tiggo 9 CSH.

The model fills the class above the Tiggo 8 CSH Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with several differences such as dimensions and color options.

The Chery Tiggo 9 CSH is the flagship model offered for around IDR 719 million on the road in Jakarta.

Since its launch at GIIAS 2025, Chery claims the Tiggo 9 CSH has already garnered hundreds of Vehicle Order Letters (SPK).

“400 (units) of the Tiggo 9 CSH,” said Rifkie Setiawan, Head of Brand & Marketing at PT CSI in Bandung, on Friday (10/10).

In terms of price, Rifkie revealed that the product aims to compete directly with other SUVs like the Hyundai Santa Fe.

However, the technology in the Tiggo 9 CSH is claimed to be more capable, namely PHEV, enabling the car to have extra range from the battery.

In Indonesia, the Tiggo 9 CSH is only available in one variant, and there are no plans to launch other lower-priced versions, as has been done with other Chery models.

When asked about the positioning of the Chery Tiggo 9 CSH and the Jaecoo J8 Ardis, which share the T2X platform, Rifkie believes their target markets are different.

Jaecoo adopts an elegant design language from Range Rover and is tough off-road. Meanwhile, the Chery Tiggo 9 CSH has the character of an MPV wrapped in an SUV, targeting consumers with families.

“They (Jaecoo) want to capture the market (of consumers) who really like off-roading. But the Tiggo 9 CSH is more for the urban family, although it is still capable if there's a need to explore the outdoors,” said Rifkie.

For your information, the Chery Tiggo 9 CSH is equipped with a 1,500 cc turbocharged engine plus an electric motor and a 34.46 kWh capacity battery.

Thanks to this configuration, the power output reaches 389.5 hp and peak torque is 650 Nm.

With a full battery and without the help of gasoline, the Tiggo 9 CSH can travel up to 180 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the comprehensive driving range combining power from the battery and gasoline is 1,400 kilometers.
