Chery Tiggo Cross Launching Soon, New Raize Rival

KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) is preparing a new product to kick off 2025. Completing the Tiggo Family series, their newest model is strongly suspected to be the Tiggo Cross.

It is identical to the previous Tiggo 5X but with some changes to the exterior. Referring to the specifications in the global market, the Tiggo Cross is available in a hybrid variant.

This could make it an attractive option for consumers who like compact SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles). In the same class, there are currently several models such as the Toyota Raize and Honda WR-V.

“This new family member marks Chery's commitment to be more aggressive in market penetration and to increase the intensity of marketing activities throughout 2025,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing at PT CSI, in his official statement quoted on Thursday (9/1).

Furthermore, Chery revealed that the product filling this Tiggo series targets active consumers who need a vehicle with an attractive appearance that is also reliable for use in urban areas.

Looking at the silhouette photo from PT CSI, the fascia and rear of the car are very identical to the Tiggo Cross in the global market.

If it launches with a hybrid option, the Tiggo Cross will be the first in its class. However, there have been no more detailed leaks regarding the engine or the specifications for the Indonesian market version.

The arrival of the Tiggo Cross has also been revealed by the Ministry of Industry during the Deputy Minister of Industry's visit to the Chery factory at PT HIM (Handal Indonesia Motor).

It was mentioned that the Tiggo Cross will be launched in the country as a result of a collaboration with PT HIM. Therefore, there is a high chance the model will be locally assembled, and if equipped with hybrid technology, Chery could also register the Tiggo 5X Pro to receive hybrid car incentives from the government.

It should be noted that the Tiggo Cross has also been launched as the Tiggo 5X Pro in several countries. So, there is a possibility that this name will be used in Indonesia.

It should be noted that the government has officially provided a three percent incentive for hybrid car models that meet the requirements.

Although the detailed regulations have not yet been published, referring to existing regulations, hybrid cars must be locally assembled and meet the TKDN (Local Component Level) criteria.

Several models have the opportunity to receive hybrid car incentives in Indonesia, such as the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix HEV and Yaris Cross HEV. Both are already locally assembled, with their TKDN reaching 70 percent.
