KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) will launch a number of new products in the Tiggo series this year. However, it seems that the one coming soon is the Tiggo Cross.

It should be noted that this model is a refresh of the Tiggo 5X which has been marketed domestically. Some of the most noticeable changes are on the exterior, such as the headlamp design and the C-pillar area.

Based on KatadataOTO's search on Wednesday (29/1), the NJKB (Motor Vehicle Sale Value) for the Chery Tiggo Cross has been registered. There are two variants with a range of Rp 120 million to Rp 135 million.

In comparison, the NJKB for the Tiggo 5X is Rp 126 million to Rp 142 million. Meanwhile, the on-the-road price is offered at Rp 244 million-Rp 274 million.

Referring to these calculations, the estimated price of the Tiggo Cross, including taxes and other fees, is in the range of Rp 238 million-Rp 267 million.

Filling the Tiggo 5X's position in Indonesia, the Tiggo Cross will be the cheapest model from Chery sold to consumers. Young families in urban areas are its target consumers.

Speaking of changes from the previous model, the Tiggo Cross still retains a number of identities or characteristics of the Tiggo line. For example, the large diamond-patterned grille is named the starry diamond-shaped grill.

However, this time the headlamp size is made smaller with a vertical LED bar right below it, adding a sporty and elegant feel to the Tiggo Cross.

Moving to the side, the previously empty C-pillar is now given a black-colored accent. Meanwhile, at the rear, the new taillight design uses a Tiger Stripe motif that extends to the long LED bar on the tailgate.

“This SUV combines the bold aesthetics of the Biometric Tiger Face, a modern interpretation of a tiger's face with an elegant touch on the grille inspired by luxury jewelry,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing at PT CSI some time ago.

Although the exact launch time is not yet known, the signs of the Chery Tiggo Cross's arrival are getting stronger and it will be a new option for consumers who want a compact SUV with a competitive price.

In the global market, the Tiggo Cross is available in an HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) option. However, the current assumption based on this model's NJKB is that PT CSI will likely only bring in the two gasoline or conventional engine types.
