KatadataOTO – Chery introduced their new concept vehicle named Leopard. The vehicle is planned to be introduced in April 2025 in China and will enter Indonesia in early 2026.

The vehicle is claimed to have a design inspired by the Leopard, so its appearance is claimed to be more elegant than other models.

“The car will use a new platform that can be used for ICE, PHEV, and BEV cars. With this, it will be easier for us to develop vehicles in the future,” said Zeng Shuo, Country Director of PT Chery Sales Indonesia.

He also explained that this new platform comes with various interesting advantages that can benefit the company and customers. For ICE vehicles, fuel efficiency improves by up to 44.5 percent.

Meanwhile, when used in a PHEV, it can allow the vehicle to travel up to 1,400 km. As for BEVs, the platform is also made to be lightweight, enabling optimal energy consumption and faster acceleration, just 3 seconds from 0 to 100 km per hour.

Not only that, the platform can also be used for two or three-row vehicles. Thus, vehicle development can be shorter and in line with the market needs in the country.

Unfortunately, he was reluctant to provide more details about the concept vehicle. This is because the product has not been officially launched in China itself.

“We can only share the details after the global introduction in Shanghai in April 2025,” he then added.

It was previously reported that Chery is reportedly ready to carry out various new developments for Indonesia. This is to strengthen its position as one of the largest car manufacturers in the country.

Based on Gaikindo data, Chery successfully recorded retail sales of 8,626 units. That number increased by 4,674 units or 118 percent compared to the achievement in 2023, which only recorded a figure of 3,952 units.

Thanks to these sales, Chery sits in the 12th position of the best-selling car manufacturers in Indonesia. That rank is better than last year when it had to be content with the 13th position.
