KatadataOTO – Daihatsu sales in 2024 experienced a significant decline compared to last year. This is evident from the data published by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo).
The data shows that Daihatsu's retail sales only reached 168,263 units. This figure is smaller than the same period last year, which recorded 194,108 units, a decrease of 25,845 units.
This is despite the Japanese manufacturer having implemented various ways to ensure customers can make purchases easily. These include offering credit, easy after-sales and maintenance services, trade-in programs, and attractive prize promotions.
This decline is not surprising, as the national automotive market has been under pressure throughout the year. Almost all manufacturers have experienced less than favorable results.
Nevertheless, Daihatsu still holds the position of the second best-selling brand in Indonesia.
“This achievement reflects our commitment to always providing various special offer programs in supplying vehicles that meet the needs, especially of first-time car buyers,” said Tri Mulyono, Marketing & Customer Relations Division Head of PT Astra International Tbk. Daihatsu Sales Operation in his official statement.
Throughout 2024, the Daihatsu Sigra remained the backbone with sales of 54,366 units. This number accounts for 32 percent of the company's total sales.
The Daihatsu Gran Max Pick Up became the second best-selling vehicle, with sales reaching 41,703 units or 25 percent. Meanwhile, the Terios ranked third after selling 19,873 units to customers, or about 12 percent of total sales.
In fourth place was the Daihatsu Ayla, which sold 18,588 units, contributing 11 percent. This was followed by the Gran Max minibus with 15,040 units (9 percent) and the Xenia with 11,014 units (7 percent).
Meanwhile, other models such as the Rocky, Luxio, and Sirion contributed more than 7,000 units, accounting for about 4 percent.
“Hopefully, the automotive market in Indonesia can grow in 2025, and Daihatsu can contribute positively to the national automotive industry,” concluded Tri Mulyono.
