KatadataOTO – LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) is one type of vehicle with an affordable price tag that is quite popular among first-time car buyers.

Currently, its sales are led by Daihatsu Sigra. In March 2025, its wholesale figures still ranked first at 4,309 units, double that of its twin, the Toyota Calya, at 2,639 units.

The last refresh was given by PT ADM (Astra Daihatsu Motor) in 2022. There were several updates to the exterior and interior.

Throughout its presence in Indonesia, the Sigra has been refreshed twice, in 2015 and 2022.

Responding to questions about when the Daihatsu Sigra will get an update, a representative from PT ADM did not deny that they are interested in doing so.

“The enthusiasm to provide products that meet consumer needs is definitely there, and we always pay attention to it from surveys,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing and Corporate Communication Director of PT ADM, when met in Jakarta some time ago.

However, Agung emphasized that there are many considerations before updating the model.

A refresh in the form of adding features or a body kit could impact the final selling price.

Considering that first-time car buyers are price-sensitive, Daihatsu is unlikely to introduce the latest Sigra Facelift anytime soon.

“We pay attention to consumer needs rather than competition, which could ultimately make it impossible for consumers to own (a vehicle),” Agung affirmed.

To meet customer needs, Daihatsu offers the Sigra in several variants, including 1,000 cc and 1,200 cc engine options, which can be chosen according to consumer needs.

“More or less, in the first-time car buyer segment, we have the lowest (price),” said Agung.
