KatadataOTO – In 2025, the new car market was unable to deliver maximum performance. This includes the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) segment.
In this affordable four-wheeled vehicle line, the market experienced a slowdown throughout last year.
Processing data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) on Thursday (15/01), the distribution from factory to dealer (wholesales) of LCGC cars in the period from January to December 2025 was only 122,686 units.
The number above is a significant drop compared to the achievement in 2024. Two years ago, the LCGC four-wheeled vehicle market managed to record wholesale figures of 176,766 units.
This means there was a decrease of about 54,083 units, or 30.6 percent, between the totals for 2024 and 2025.
Of course, this result should be a concern for many parties. Both the government as the regulator, and LCGC car manufacturers like Daihatsu, Toyota, and Honda.
The achievement above also indicates that the economy of the lower-middle class is not doing well.
In addition, the LCGC market is also being eroded by the presence of electric cars from China. This is because these Electric Vehicles (EVs) are offered at very competitive prices.
In fact, a number of electric four-wheeled vehicles are sold at prices similar to LCGC cars in Indonesia from Toyota, Daihatsu, and Honda.
On the other hand, the Daihatsu Sigra was the most distributed LCGC car throughout 2025, reaching 34,452 units.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Calya was in second place with 31,378 units. It was followed by the Honda Brio Satya, which recorded 30,196 units.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Agya recorded wholesales of 15,910 units in 2025. Lastly, there was the Daihatsu Ayla, which scored 10,750 units.
So, if all models are totaled, the wholesales of LCGC cars last year were only around 122,686 units.
