KatadataOTO – Denza, a premium sub-brand of BYD, has just offered one model for Indonesian consumers, namely the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) Denza D9.

Offered at a price of around IDR 950 million on the road in Jakarta, the Denza D9 has managed to achieve positive results amidst the weakening of public purchasing power.

In the first half of 2025, Denza's retail sales (delivery from dealer to consumer) reached 5,516 units, with just one family car model in the premium segment.

Referring to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), the luxury brand's market share is 1.2 percent.

The highest sales figure for the Denza D9 was achieved in March 2025 with 1,801 units. This result is a 71.1 percent increase from February's sales of 519 units.

In March and June, Denza D9 sales successfully surpassed 1,000 units in retail. This indicates a positive consumer response to the new luxury MPV competitor to the Toyota Alphard Hybrid.

Denza D9 sales in July were its lowest since its launch in Indonesia, at 423 units. A drastic drop from 1,128 units, or about 62.5 percent.

However, this is understandable as several manufacturers also experienced a decline in sales figures in June and July. Additionally, Denza is only marketing one model to consumers.

Previously, they announced plans to sell the Denza Z9 GT. But to date, there has been no further information regarding its launch time or technical specifications.

At the GIIAS 2025 event, Denza instead brought the Z9 as an introduction. Then there was the luxury car YangWang U9, which is part of a BYD sub-brand in its home country.

For more details, here KatadataOTO summarizes the retail sales of the Denza D9 for the January-July 2025 period, processed from Gaikindo data.

As a note, the retail sales figure for the Denza D9 in January was zero, as the model was only officially launched on January 22, 2025.

Marketing of the Denza D9 units only began at the end of the month and was recorded in early February 2025.
