KatadataOTO – Suzuki admits that their car export numbers in 2024 have decreased. In fact, based on Gaikindo data, the difference is quite significant for both CBU and CKD.
It was reported that the number of Suzuki's CBU car exports last year was only 19,141 units. This figure is a decline of 19,426 units or 50.4 percent from the previous year's total of 38,557 units.
“The global economic conditions in 2024 are not very encouraging, which has impacted our production and export numbers," said Shodiq Wicaksono, Managing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM), in Jakarta on Friday (17/1).
Nevertheless, they still managed to be among the top five largest car exporters in Indonesia. The Suzuki XL7 and Ertiga are said to remain the company's mainstays for the international market.
Meanwhile, Suzuki's exports for CKD increased, shipping 6,612 sets, a rise of 199.5 percent throughout 2024. This is in contrast to the previous year when they only shipped 2,208 sets.
Therefore, Suzuki believes they still have the potential to increase their export numbers. This is because the number of destination countries is also quite large.
"Suzuki Indonesia's exports have reached 74 countries, mostly in the Asian and Latin American regions,” he later revealed.
It should be noted that Indonesia's total car exports throughout 2024 have decreased. The recorded number of units shipped abroad was only 472,194, a decrease of 32,940 units or 6.5 percent compared to the previous year's 505,134 units.
Meanwhile, the number of CKD car exports saw an even steeper decline, with only 46,311 sets shipped. That figure is 19,470 sets or about 29.6 percent less than in 2023, when 65,781 sets were shipped.
