IBC claims it already has several potential clients planning to buy EV batteries once the factory is completed.

KatadataOTO – Although its factory has not yet been completed, Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) revealed that it already has potential customers interested in buying their products. These consumers are claimed to be mostly from within the country.
This shows that manufacturers' interest in producing electric vehicles in Indonesia is indeed quite high.
“There are already several potential customers, and most of them are from Indonesia," said Toto Nugroho, President Director of Indonesia Battery Corporation, as reported by Antara (30/06).
Unfortunately, he could not disclose who the customers are because they are still in the agreement stage with CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited).
“Looking at the current conditions, about 30 percent will be exported. But that will surely change from year to year,” said Toto.
The presence of this production facility is believed to be able to accelerate the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia. Especially since there are already several EV manufacturers building their production facilities in the country.
It was previously reported that President Prabowo Subianto laid the first stone in the construction of the Integrated Electric Vehicle Battery Industry Ecosystem project by the Antam – IBC - CBL Consortium in the Artha Industrial Hills (AIH) Area, in Karawang, West Java, on Sunday.
This development is an upstream to downstream industrial development consisting of six integrated projects resulting from the collaboration of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam), Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC), and the CATL, Brunp, and Lygend (CBL) consortium.
Five projects are being developed in the FHT East Halmahera Area and one project is being developed in Karawang.
Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, revealed that the EV battery factory in Karawang can produce batteries with a capacity of 15 GWh. This amount is equivalent to 250 thousand to 300 thousand electric cars.
The presence of this facility is expected to make Indonesia one of the largest electric vehicle producing countries in the world.
