KatadataOTO – The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) has officially revised its sales target for new cars. This was done after the GJAW 2025 event.

They are no longer targeting four-wheeled vehicle sales at 850,000 to 900,000 units.

Gaikindo has set the target for the 2025 period at the 780,000-unit level. A significant drop from the previous number.

“Sales up to October 2025 were also down 10 percent compared to last year,” said Jongkie Sugiarto, First Chairman of Gaikindo, to KatadataOTO today, Tuesday (02/12).

Jongkie then said that in 2024 car sales were only around 865,000 units. Then they reduced the 2025 target by about 10 percent.

Based on this calculation, Gaikindo set the total domestic new car sales at the 780,000 level.

“And (the revision decision) has been discussed with several members,” Jongkie continued.

For your information, the idea of Gaikindo revising their target has been circulating for some time.

Especially after seeing the performance of the domestic four-wheeled vehicle market, which experienced a decline in the middle of the year.

Various obstacles have also hindered the progress of the automotive industry. Such as the tightening of vehicle credit at the beginning of the year.

Then, the implementation of the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) surcharge and the Vehicle Title Transfer Fee (BBNKB) in several regions.

The declining economic conditions also contributed to the decrease in people's purchasing power. Thus, new car sales have slumped.

It doesn't stop there; the national automotive industry has had to face the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar.

Lastly, the large number of national holidays in 2025 is also a culprit for the decline in new car sales this year.

With these various facts, Gaikindo decided to revise their target towards the end of 2025.

Impact of GJAW 2025 Not Yet Felt

On the other hand, Gaikindo is also still waiting for the impact of the GJAW 2025 event held at ICE BSD, Tangerang some time ago.

The exhibition was expected to boost sales of four-wheeled vehicles. Because many attractive programs and new products were displayed.

However, the realization of consumer purchases is predicted to only occur this December 2025. So the effect cannot be felt immediately.

However, GJAW 2025 also doesn't seem to have helped Gaikindo much in boosting sales this year.
