KatadataOTO – Although still new in Indonesia, Geely Auto Indonesia reveals that the cars they bring to the country have undergone various developments. Moreover, Geely Holding Group as the parent company oversees various renowned brands, including Volvo.

Through collaboration with other companies, all technologies can be developed and embedded in each brand. This will certainly benefit the company and increase its appeal to customers.

“Geely has indeed absorbed a lot of technology from Volvo and further enhanced its performance. We also have a share in Mercedes-Benz, so we can develop vehicles together,” said Yusuf Anshori, Brand Director of Geely Indonesia, to the media some time ago.

Unfortunately, he did not specify in detail what technologies from those two brands have been embedded in Geely cars. However, he emphasized that technology transfer in the automotive world is a common thing.

“If you ask about technology, there will definitely be an exchange,” he then affirmed.

The many collaborations Geely has undertaken are expected to make the public interested in the performance of their cars. Especially as a new player in the country, the manufacturer must be able to gain trust.

It should be noted that Geely Holding Group has indeed become a home for several global brands. Ranging from Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, Renault, Lotus, Zeekr, Volvo, Polestar to smart.

Technology exchanges also frequently occur to optimize vehicle development according to customer needs.

An example is the collaboration between Geely and Volvo since 2017, which was strengthened in 2021. In their collaboration, they are committed to focusing on developing future vehicle technologies, from connectivity and autonomous driving to electrification.

The two manufacturers will jointly provide batteries, electric motors, and connectivity solutions in the future. Then, both Volvo and Geely will also share vehicle platforms.

Thus, the speed and efficiency in developing cars will be more optimal than doing it independently. Although it can be faster, both affirm that the quality provided remains optimal for customers.
