KatadataOTO – The Geely EX5 electric car achieved satisfactory results in the Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) and ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) crash tests.

The independent crash test is part of Geely Auto's commitment to maintaining driving safety.

The testing was conducted at Teccon, a Euro NCAP-certified passive safety laboratory in Austria.

In the process, the Geely EX5 was tested at a speed of 50 km/h. According to the manufacturer, the industry standard itself is 35 km/h.

This resulted in a 104 percent increase in impact energy, but the electric car from Geely was able to demonstrate good performance in protecting both the driver and passengers.

The hazard lights, emergency call system, and automatic door locks were said to function optimally, thus supporting a safe evacuation process.

Most importantly, the battery in the Geely EX5 electric car remained intact without any leakage, smoke, or showing any risk of fire. Additionally, the passenger cabin structure remained intact.

“Meanwhile, the airbags and seat belts worked perfectly to protect all passengers,” wrote Geely Auto in an official statement, quoted on Wednesday (30/04).

For your information, Geely has invested more than 20 billion yuan over the past decade to support research and development in the field of safety.

The Chinese brand is also supported by a network of global engineering centers, international-standard laboratories, and testing facilities to ensure safety standards across its vehicle lineup.

In the IATF (International Automotive Task Force), Geely is the first Asian member to set global standards alongside several renowned automotive manufacturers.
