KatadataOTO – Dozens of Geely consumers in Indonesia can finally smile widely. Because the Starray EM-i they ordered has started to be distributed.
The delivery of the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) to buyers was carried out on Saturday (01/11().
“This moment is not just about handing over units, but also marks the first step of Geely's commitment to local assembly in Indonesia,” said Constantinus Herlijoso, Sales & Channel Development Director of Geely Auto Indonesia in Gading Serpong, Tangerang.
The man, often called Joso, also expressed his happiness at being able to hand over the Geely Starray EM-i to consumers.
He also expressed his gratitude for choosing a Geely product as a solution for daily mobility.
“Each unit is assembled with global safety and quality control standards and is moving towards local assembly,” Joso continued.
Indeed, he claims that the Geely Starray EM-I is already being assembled at the Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) facility in Purwakarta, West Java.
This represents a commitment from the Chinese brand to support the automotive industry in Indonesia, especially four-wheeled vehicles.
“We can accelerate vehicle deliveries while supporting the national automotive industry,” Joso affirmed.
Joso further explained that the Geely Starray EM-i is aimed at consumers who are hesitant about electric cars due to range anxiety.
Thus, the presence of this four-wheeled vehicle with a hybrid powertrain can answer the needs of consumers.
“In addition, the (Geely Starray EM-i) still offers the typical comfort of an electric car with an EV mode of up to 100 kilometers,” he concluded.
He also hopes that the Geely Starray EM-i will receive a positive response from domestic consumers.
As a reminder, this car is equipped with an electric motor with 160 kW or 214 hp and 262 Nm of torque. This performance is paired with an 18.4 kWh capacity battery.
Additionally, there is fast charging, so it can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.
The Geely Starray EM-i also carries a 1,500 cc gasoline engine. It is claimed to be able to produce 73 kW or 97 hp of power and 125 Nm of torque.
The combination of the two powertrains above allows the Geely Starray EM-I to accelerate to 100 km per hour in eight seconds from a standstill.
Meanwhile, the top speed that can be achieved is 170 km per hour. Based on the NEDC testing method, the Geely Starray EM-i is capable of traveling more than 1,000 km when the gasoline and battery are full.
