KatadataOTO – Aletra Mobil Nusantara has one product in its electrification line, the L8 EV. The electric car has even been officially launched for sale.
However, there is one unique thing that has caught attention. The Aletra L8 EV still features the Geely name on both the front and rear lights.
This has made some people wonder why the Geely name remains on Aletra's electric car in Indonesia.
“Because we always explain that we are indeed partners with Geely. So the product is from Geely, but we do the development (ourselves),” said Christo Antyo, Product Manager of Aletra in Magelang some time ago.
Christo explained that they intentionally put the Geely name on the Aletra L8 EV. This is also reflected on their social media.
On Aletra's official Instagram account, the words ‘A Strategic Partner of Livan Auto-Geely Group’ are displayed.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Niken Mahari, General Manager of Aletra's Marketing Department. She explained that their decision to feature the Geely name was made quite some time ago.
“There is one thing we hold onto: ever since Geely acquired Volvo and other major brands, we know how Geely manufactures a product,” said Niken.
Niken explained that Geely is not just any car brand. Because in China, the name is very big.
Furthermore, its product quality is no joke. So it can meet all the needs of consumers.
“We are confident that the product we produce, even with the Geely name on it, will actually make us much more trusted by people,” Niken explained.
For your information, Aletra and Geely are two different entities in Indonesia. They have no relationship at all.
However, Aletra has a partnership with a subsidiary of the Geely Group, namely Livan Auto.
For context, Geely Auto Group is part of the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (ZGH). They oversee several other automotive brands, such as Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Lotus, Volvo Cars, Polestar, and Smart.
Meanwhile, Aletra is under Aletra Mobil Nusantara, a collaboration between Sinar Armada Globalindo (SAG) and Livan Auto.
The partnership between the two parties has been ongoing since 2023. Meanwhile, Livan Auto was established in the country in 2022 after a merger between Shanghai Maple, owned by Geely, and Lifan Technology.
In the country, Aletra is already selling the L8 EV to consumers. Meanwhile, Geely officially offers the EX5 and Starray.
