KatadataOTO – Electric car brand Aletra is targeting its product, the L8, to achieve a Local Component Level or TKDN of 60 percent by 2030.

It should be noted that the current level is 44 percent. However, it's interesting because Aletra explained that TKDN not only includes parts but also factory activities.

“A full investment would mean building a factory. We are more focused on activities,” said Joko Purwanto, Technical Director of Aletra, when met in Purwakarta recently.

He continued that at PT Handal Motor Indonesia (HIM), Aletra is increasing the TKDN through local assembly activities supported by a domestic workforce.

“(The 40 percent TKDN) comes from activities at Handal. There's R&D (Research and Development), IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) for the Aletra brand,” said Joko.

To reach the 60 percent figure in the next four years, he said there will be more battery processing or assembly procedures at the factory.

By 2027, the manufacturer aims to increase production volume to 3,000 units of the L8 EV with Completely Knocked Down (CKD) status.

For now, Joko emphasized that Aletra is 100 percent supported by a workforce from Indonesia. This contributes to the L8 EV's TKDN.

Until now, the components for the Aletra L8 EV electric car are still imported from its country of origin. It is not yet known whether Aletra will partner with local suppliers or component providers.

For your information, the Aletra L8 EV will begin local assembly at the PT HIM facility in May 2025, a few months after its debut at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week or GJAW 2024.

The Aletra L8 was originally born as the Geely Livan Maple in China, with a left-hand drive configuration.

Aletra Indonesia is said to have independently developed the L8 EV to adapt it to a right-hand drive configuration.

The model assembled in Indonesia is planned to be exported to other countries that also use right-hand drive.

Two variants of the Aletra L8 EV are offered to customers: the Short Range with a 50.4 kWh battery, and the Long Range with a 64.7 kWh battery.

The price of the Aletra L8 EV at its debut was around Rp 415 million, valid for the first 200 Vehicle Order Letters (SPK) at the GJAW 2024 event.
