Chery's newest sub-brand, Lepas, will debut at GIIAS 2025, introducing three new SUV models for consumers.
KatadataOTO – Chery will introduce a new sub-brand at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025 event, namely Lepas.
The sub-brand is said to be targeting younger generation consumers through modern and premium-styled vehicle models.
Interestingly, Indonesia will be the second country after China where Lepas is officially exhibited and sold to consumers.
“So there will be three (models) that we can plan to present, (in the form of) concepts,” said Zeng Shuo, President Director of PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) when met in Bekasi some time ago.
However, Zeng Shuo revealed that if people are interested in the Lepas vehicle line, they can join the Founder Program which prioritizes the first prospective customers.
“If they join the Founder Program, they will get a special edition (unit), a founder’s edition,” he emphasized.
Although he was reluctant to detail the models in question, in its home country, there are indeed three different products introduced, namely Lepas L4, L6, and L8.
Two of its designs, the L4 and L8, are believed to have been registered with the DJKI (Directorate General of Intellectual Property) No. 44/DI/2025, announced on July 15, 2025, with application numbers A00202503027 and A00202503028.
Both were registered by Chery Automobile Co., Ltd located in Wuhu, China as the applicant.
It is known that the Lepas L8 will be the first mass-produced SUV. The L8 shares a platform with the Chery Tiggo 8 and also the Jaecoo J7.
Although there is no complete information on specifications, there is a high chance the Lepas L8 will be available in hybrid or PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) variants because the platform used already supports it.
Meanwhile, the Lepas L6 and L4 are smaller in size. Each is touted as a premium version of the Chery Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 4, also known as the Tiggo Cross.
Lepas will open a separate booth from Chery at the GIIAS 2025 event. Prospective customers can see the units in person at ICE BSD towards the end of July.
The full specifications and price will likely only be announced during the GIIAS 2025 exhibition.
