KatadataOTO – Towards the end of the year, the new car market showed a slightly positive performance, as seen throughout November 2025.
The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) reported that last month, new car retail sales reached 79.310 units.
The figure above increased by 6.1 percent compared to the previous month, as October only recorded 74.720 units.
This means there was a difference of about 4.590 units between October and November, a positive note for the national automotive industry.
This is considering the many conditions that hampered sales, such as natural disasters, credit tightening, and the weakening of the rupiah's exchange rate against the dollar.
Meanwhile, new car sales in November 2025 also showed an increase compared to the same month last year.
The Gaikindo report stated an increase of 3.7 percent, as last year's sales were only 76.473 units.
Furthermore, the total new car sales from January to November 2025 reached 739.977 units.
It should be noted that this figure is still far from the achievement in the same period in 2024, which recorded 807.586 units.
A difference of about 67.609 units was recorded, a decrease of 8.4 percent between the achievements in 2025 and 2024.
As a reminder, Gaikindo has revised its sales target for new four-wheeled vehicles for this year.
Gaikindo now aims for 780 thousand new cars to be sold to consumers in the country.
The increase in car sales in November 2025 is certainly inseparable from the impact of the GJAW 2025 exhibition.
There, visitors were presented with various attractive programs, such as discounts reaching hundreds of millions.
Many flagship products were also displayed, such as the Chery J6T, Jaecoo J5 EV, and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
This could tempt the public to spend their money at the end of 2025.
The effects of the GJAW 2025 event are predicted to be felt until December 2025, as some manufacturers are starting to distribute consumer orders this month.
Additionally, many people finalized their new car purchases in December, potentially boosting retail sales of four-wheeled vehicles.
