The Government introduces the concept of Green Mobility to support an environmentally friendly automotive industry in the future.

KatadataOTO – The government is committed to being open to various technologies to achieve Net Zero Emission, especially in the automotive sector. Therefore, car manufacturers will be encouraged to continue developing innovations for future use.
To achieve Net Zero Emission, the government affirms it will be open to introducing the Green Mobility concept. This concept will integrate more comprehensive environmentally friendly technologies rather than just relying on electric vehicles as the final product.
“To put it simply, the government is open to technologies that are environmentally friendly. So there are EVs, hybrids, hydrogen, and biofuels; the concepts are already in place,” said Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Industry in Jakarta (06/05).
This way, Indonesia will not depend on just one technology to create a clean environment. Instead, there will be many options so that the public can more easily choose according to their needs.
“The policy will be more adaptive and sustainable for the national automotive industry, especially in responding to the development of environmentally friendly technology, being efficient in energy use, supporting population mobility, while also protecting the investments that have been in Indonesia all this time,” he added.
In the future, under Green Mobility, long-standing automotive investments in Indonesia will also be considered in policymaking. For example, producers of ICE technology vehicles in the form of incentives for LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) products and biofuel programs.
The government has issued policies and incentives to encourage the creation of an electric vehicle ecosystem through PPNBM DTP incentives and the downstreaming of natural resources to support the battery industry. The government has also provided incentives for the production of hybrid cars.
The government is also preparing facilities for investors who produce hydrogen fuel cell technology vehicles. Through the many programs being prepared, it is hoped to accelerate the achievement of Net Zero Emission.
“Although the challenge to meet these standards is quite large, we believe that with the right policies and research support, factories in Indonesia can soon meet the needs of the global standard market,” he concluded.
