KatadataOTO – GWM has one product, the Haval H7, which debuted in April 2016. Although it was once popular, its sales figures declined and its marketing was discontinued in 2021.

However, GWM apparently has plans to redevelop the Haval H7 in the electrification era with a modern design and the latest technology.

Towards the end of 2024, Zhao Yongpo, General Manager of GWM Haval, published official photos of the new Haval H7's appearance through his personal Weibo social media account.

“Happy New Year! We will strive to become even more popular next year,” wrote Zhao Yongpo in his post, quoted on Monday (6/1).

Reported by Carnewschina, the new Haval H7 has dimensions of L x W x H at 4,780 mm x 1,895 mm x 1,725 mm with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm.

In terms of design, it looks like the Chery Omoda E5 compact SUV at a glance. However, the Omoda E5's size is slightly smaller at 4,424 mm x 1,830 mm x 1,588 mm with a wheelbase of 2,630 mm.

Speaking of the powertrain, the GWM Haval H7 is equipped with the latest plug-in hybrid system combined with a 1,500 cc capacity engine and one electric motor.

Supported by a 27.54 kWh LFP battery, the Haval H7 can produce a peak power of 114 hp and has a pure electric range of 126 km without the assistance of the gasoline engine.

The GWM Haval H7 is scheduled to launch this year. However, the exact date is not yet known in detail.

It is possible that the GWM Haval H7 will come to Indonesia. Because in 2025, Chinese manufacturers like Chery are interested in bringing PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) vehicles to consumers following the availability of hybrid incentives.

However, it should be noted that one of the requirements for receiving hybrid car incentives is an investment commitment. So the vehicle must be locally assembled with a TKDN (Local Component Level) of at least 40 percent.

Currently, GWM has three hybrid car models: the Tank 500 HEV, Haval H6 HEV, and Haval Jolion HEV. This Chinese brand will also locally assemble its vehicle lineup.

The Haval Jolion HEV itself now has CKD (Completely Knocked Down) status, meaning it is locally assembled at the Inchcape Manufacturing Facility in Wanaherang, Bogor.
