GWM's Strategy to Attract Indonesian Consumers, Showcasing Extensive Technology

KatadataOTO – GWM is one of the car manufacturers enlivening the Indonesian market. They have brought many products into the country.

This is all done to capture the attention of consumers amidst tight competition among manufacturers.

"So we are not only focusing on electric cars, but also presenting hybrid and conventional vehicles," said Bagus Susanto, CEO of Inchape GWM Indonesia in Jakarta some time ago.

Bagus stated that they did not just make this decision. However, GWM has conducted direct surveys with consumers.

So they know exactly what potential GWM buyers in Indonesia need.

"To support this, we have a production facility in Wanaherang, Bogor. Some components come from China and some are assembled in Indonesia," he continued.

Just as a reminder, the brand from China has marketed several vehicles. For example, the GWM Tank 300 Diesel, Ora 03, Haval Jolion HEV, Haval H6 HEV, and the Tank 500 Hybrid.

On the other hand, GWM not only offers various excellent products but also strengthens its dealer network in Indonesia.

This is done to make it easier for the public to buy GWM cars. It also facilitates consumers in performing routine maintenance.

"What I want to convey is about GWM's strategy in Indonesia. We are here for the long term and our focus is on growing the business," said Bagus.

Indeed, GWM already has a dealer network, spread across several locations within the country.

It is not only concentrated on the island of Java but is also available on several other islands.

"We want to be closer to consumers, so there will be new outlets in various other cities such as Yogyakarta, Denpasar, and Kalimantan," Bagus affirmed.

Starting to Make an Impact

Thanks to the various strategic steps above, GWM is starting to reap the sweet fruits of its efforts.

Sales of four-wheeled vehicles from this Chinese manufacturer are claimed to have increased from previous months.

"The results are quite proud; last August we recorded record sales of 200 units and had reached 210 units the previous month," Bagus concluded.

From the numbers above, the GWM Tank 300 Diesel and Ora 03 are said to have contributed significantly.
