KatadataOTO – If you look at the Gaikindo data, it is known that the difference between retail sales and wholesales is quite large. From this data, it can be seen that vehicle deliveries from dealers to customers reached 71,233 units.

That figure is much higher than wholesales, which only amounted to 56,500 units from January to December 2025. This means there is a difference of 14,733 units between the two.

However, Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of Honda Prospect Motor, said this is considered normal. This is because the company indeed maintains stock levels to avoid excess at dealers.

“We are making distribution adjustments so that the stock in the dealer network remains healthy and in line with market conditions.  On the other hand, the higher retail figures show that consumer interest and demand throughout last year were still quite good,” he later revealed.

In addition, he also acknowledged that car sales throughout 2025 were indeed under pressure. As a result, both retail sales and wholesales experienced a significant decline.

Based on Gaikindo data, sales from dealers to consumers in 2025 saw Honda release only 71,233 units. This number is down by 31,790 units, or about 30.9 percent, from the previous figure of 103,023 units.

Meanwhile, for wholesales, Honda released 56,500 units from the factory to dealers, a decrease of 40.4 percent from their achievement in 2024. At that time, Honda managed to record a figure of 94,742 units.

Closing Several Dealers

The significant pressure faced by Honda has led a number of dealers to decide to close and switch to other brands. This has happened in Bandung and Surabaya, among other places.

“A change in dealer status is something that can happen in business dynamics, and we always respect every decision from our dealers as partners,” said Yusak Billy on a different occasion.

However, he emphasized that the company will maintain the quality of its services.

“Our main focus is to ensure that customers continue to receive ease, comfort, and consistent quality of service through the Honda dealer network,” he concluded.
