KatadataOTO – Car sales in Indonesia in 2025 faced a very challenging period. Several manufacturers experienced a correction, including Honda.
This Japanese manufacturer was recorded to have sold only 71,233 units throughout 2025. The number decreased by 31,790 units, or about 30.9 percent, from the previous total of 103,023 units.
Despite the hit, Honda remains the third best-selling four-wheeled vehicle manufacturer in Indonesia. They hold an 11.6 percent share of the national car market.
Their highest sales were achieved in December 2025, with 7,008 units. Meanwhile, the lowest demand occurred in April with only 4,539 units.
Not only in retail, a decline was also seen on the wholesale side. During 2025, Honda only shipped 56,500 units from the factory to dealers.
That number is down by 38,242 units, or about 40.4 percent, from their achievement in 2024. At that time, Honda managed to record a figure of 94,742 units.
Honda's largest shipment from the factory to dealers occurred in February, reaching 8,757 units. Meanwhile, the lowest wholesale figure was in April, as only 3,000 units were released.
Honda rounded out the top five manufacturers with the largest wholesale figures in Indonesia.
“Throughout 2025, Honda sales were impacted by the challenging automotive market conditions. Then, entering 2026, we will continue to monitor market developments and implement a more flexible strategy,” said Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of Honda Prospect Motor to KatadataOTO (16/01).
“We are preparing product refreshments in various segments, continuing the electrification roadmap according to the needs of Indonesian consumers, and strengthening sales and after-sales services to remain relevant and competitive,” he added.
This commitment is believed to have a positive impact on Honda's sales in 2026. This is because the number of car manufacturers entering Indonesia continues to grow, making the competition increasingly tight.
