KatadataOTO – The newly launched Hyundai Creta facelift will not only be made for domestic needs but also for export purposes. This move is expected to demonstrate the manufacturer's commitment to making Indonesia a production hub.
The Indonesian-made Hyundai Creta has already been shipped for the international market. There are at least 60 countries in the Asia Pacific, Central and South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
“We hope the production of the Hyundai Creta facelift and N Line Turbo can meet consumer needs and be well-received in Indonesia as well as in other parts of the world,” said Bong Kyu Lee, President Director of PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia in his official statement (16/01).
Unfortunately, he did not specify the export target they aim to achieve in one year. However, based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), throughout 2024 they successfully shipped 62,443 units, capturing 13.2 percent of total car shipments.
This figure is 8,005 units more than in 2023, which only reached 54,438 units. At that time, the manufacturer managed to capture up to 10.8 percent of the export market.
Hyundai's export record is very interesting because their total production throughout 2024 reached 85,674 units. This means that most of the cars they produce are to meet the needs of other countries' markets.
This number is certainly expected to increase as the Hyundai Creta and Creta N Line Turbo have started production.
For the Creta N Line Turbo, this car is equipped with a 1.5 L Turbo GDi engine. The powertrain is then paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission.
Hyundai claims that the engine is capable of producing 157 hp and 253 Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta Facelift comes with a tamer performance as the manufacturer uses a 1.5 L MPI engine. The power output reaches 113 hp and a peak torque of 143.8 Nm.
To meet drivers' needs, four driving mode options are provided, ranging from Eco, Smart, Normal, to Sport.
