KatadataOTO – Hyundai shows its commitment to developing electric vehicles in Indonesia. One way is by continuously increasing the Local Content Level (TKDN) in its products.

The newest model is the Hyundai Kona, which already has a TKDN of up to 80 percent, the largest compared to other electric cars. This is because its production is already done domestically, from battery cell manufacturing to assembly.

“Currently, the only electric car in Indonesia using PT HLI Green Power battery cells is the Hyundai Kona Electric. This model uses 216 battery cells,” said Ubaidah Jarrah, Professional Cell Technology Team at PT HLI Green Power (14/05).

Although made domestically, the quality of the battery cells is claimed to meet high standards. In fact, the product is already being exported to meet the needs of the global market.

“Currently, 98 percent of the battery cells we produce are for export needs. The rest is used to meet the needs of the domestic market, specifically for the Hyundai Kona Electric,” he added.

It should be noted that the Hyundai Kona Electric comes with two different battery capacities. The lowest variant uses a 48.9 kWh Lithium-ion battery with a range of over 400 Km

Meanwhile, the higher variant has a 66 kWh capacity, capable of traveling up to 600 Km on a single charge. The long range is believed to alleviate public concerns about driving long distances.

Not just the battery, Hyundai has also embedded various modern features to attract customers. Such as a Panoramic Sunroof, Indoor and outdoor V2L (Vehicle to Load) for charging, Bluelink Connectivity, Wireless Charging, and a Bose Premium Speaker.

There is also Hyundai SmartSense which consists of Lane Keeping Assist, SCC (Smart Cruise Control) With Stop and Go, Lane Following Assist, Blind Spot View Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance assist With Junction Turning.
