KatadataOTO – Mitsubishi is known to be collaborating with Foxconn to design its first electric car for the global market.

It should be noted, Foxconn is better known as the Taiwanese company that assembles the iPhone smart device.

It was recently revealed that the Foxconn electric car that will be the basis for Mitsubishi's Electric Vehicle (EV) is the Foxtron Bria.

Although it is not yet known whether Mitsubishi will retain the main design of the Foxtron Bria, it is believed that its technical specifications will not be much different.

The Foxtron Bria was previously launched first in Taiwan. In terms of size, this car falls into the same segment as the Hyundai Kona Electric.

The Foxtron Bria has dimensions of 4,315 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,535 mm in height. For comparison, the L x W x H dimensions of the Hyundai Kona are 4,355 mm x 1,825 mm x 1,575 mm.

Speaking of technical specifications, the prospective new Mitsubishi car is likely to be equipped with a rear-wheel drive electric motor with a power of 171 kW (229.3 hp).

Its battery capacity is quite large at 57.7 kWh, made of Lithium Iron Phosphate or LFP.

This configuration allows the Mitsubishi electric car to travel up to 516 kilometers (NEDC) on a single full charge.

However, there is another variant option using two electric motors for all-wheel drive (AWD). Its peak power is 299 kW (400 hp), enabling acceleration from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 3.9 seconds.

This high performance affects the range of the top-tier Foxtron Bria, reducing it to 466 kilometers (NEDC).

Mitsubishi has not yet commented on their prospective new electric car.

However, in Australia, the three-diamond brand has registered new model names, ASX GT-e and ASX VR-e.

These two names could potentially be the new names for the Foxtron Bria when it is launched under the Mitsubishi banner.

Seeing this, there is a high probability that the Mitsubishi electric car will first target markets with a right-hand drive configuration.
