KatadataOTO – In early June, Hyundai had to face a lawsuit from its customers in California. The South Korean manufacturer is alleged to have concealed problems with the ABS brakes and traction control in the 2023 to 2025 Palisade models.

The defect could potentially cause the vehicle to skid when braking on rough or uneven surfaces. However, in the United States, the issue was not considered significant and thus received little attention.

Reported by Carscoops, Hyundai Palisade owners have also reported rear suspension problems that have been occurring for years. The South Korean manufacturer is claimed to have made repairs, but the complaints have not been resolved.

In fact, dozens of customers have revealed that the problem is common, especially after the car has traveled between 20,000 miles (32,186 km) and 60,000 miles (96,560 km). Owners often describe the rear ride as very rough, uneven, and often accompanied by leaking rear shocks.

However, the damage seems to only occur on higher-end variants equipped with self-leveling suspension. This system allows the car's height to remain stable even when driving on uneven roads, thereby increasing ride comfort.

Unfortunately, the setup does not work as it should. The suspension tends to be fragile and makes the customer's experience far from comfortable.

To overcome this, many owners have switched to aftermarket suspension or even replaced it with a lower system.

Hyundai Was Aware of a Problem with the Suspension System

Hyundai was apparently aware of the problem and was trying to find a solution. In fact, in early 2022, the company issued a technical service bulletin stating that Palisades with self-leveling shocks were equipped with an easily damaged insulator assembly.

As a result, it causes a knocking or rattling sound in the vehicle, making the ride less comfortable. However, Hyundai stated that this condition only occurred on certain 2020-2021 Palisade variants and could be replaced immediately.

Although Hyundai's move was positively received by customers, it turned out that similar problems continued to recur.
