Orders for the Jaecoo J7 are claimed to have exceeded 600 units since its debut at IIMS 2025.
KatadataOTO – Jaecoo, Chery's premium sub-brand, is bringing its flagship model for Indonesian consumers. Expected to launch at GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025, Jaecoo claims to have secured hundreds of orders.
The number of orders is a combination of the J7, J7 SHS (Super Hybrid System/Plug-in Hybrid), and the J8 AWD (All Wheel Drive).
Since it was first introduced at IIMS (Indonesia International Motor Show) 2025, Jaecoo says the public response has been quite positive.
“600 (orders) in total. It's still dominated by the J7,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing for Jaecoo Indonesia in Sentul, recently.
However, he was still reluctant to reveal which J7 variant is dominating. Because besides the J7 PHEV, the model is also available with a conventional engine option.
“For the J8, if I look at the order history, it turns out the numbers are not just from Jakarta. But the regions of Sumatra and Kalimantan can be said to be growing and quite high,” he explained.
According to Ilham, many consumers in the regions need a vehicle that prioritizes comfort with an elegant design and is tough enough to handle off-road terrain.
The adoption of technology in the Jaecoo J8 from Range Rover and its AWD drive system are cited as some of the main attractions of the SUV for customers outside of Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi).
He was not yet willing to disclose the exact delivery time for the 600 units to consumers. But according to Ilham, this has been communicated to all who ordered a Jaecoo vehicle at IIMS 2025.
“When the price is launched, consumers can immediately proceed with either a credit or cash payment scheme. Once it's fixed, delivery will follow immediately,” he affirmed.
For your information, the Jaecoo J7 AWD and SHS are offered at an introductory price of around Rp 599 million. Meanwhile, the AWD type is Rp 549 million.
The Jaecoo J8 has larger dimensions and targets the premium segment. Its estimated price is higher, at around Rp 700 million to Rp 800 million.
The entire Jaecoo lineup will later be locally assembled at the facility owned by PT HIM (Handal Indonesia Motor). The SHS type is planned to be registered for the incentive program for hybrid cars in the form of a three percent tax reduction.
