The Jetour T5 Concept, appearing as the Zongheng G700, is poised to become a new challenger to the GWM Tank 300 offroad hybrid.
KatadataOTO – Chery Group's sub-brand, Jetour, introduces an offroad car, the Zongheng G700. Different from their previous SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) lineup, the Zongheng is categorized as a luxury hybrid car with hybrid technology.
Its design appears identical to one of the hybrid offroad cars already marketed in Indonesia, the GWM Tank 300. Previously, the Zongheng G700 was introduced as a prototype named the Jetour T5 Concept.
The Zongheng G700 has a sturdy and assertive appearance. The chassis used is a body-on-frame, also known as a ladder frame, which is claimed to make the car more robust in tackling extreme terrain.
Moving to the interior, the Zongheng G700 has a 6-seater configuration with a 2+2+2 layout. In the center of the dashboard, there is a large screen and a digital instrument panel, and the transmission is a knob on the center console.
To support in-cabin entertainment, Chery has equipped it with high-quality Lexicon speakers. Then, for safety features, there is Huawei Qiankun as the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).
Uniquely, the Zongheng G700 is equipped with air suspension. Therefore, its ground clearance can be adjusted from 150 mm to 350 mm.
Speaking of the powertrain, the Zongheng G700 uses a 2,000 cc engine and hybrid technology claimed to produce 207 hp and a peak torque of 340 Nm, delivered through a DHT transmission.
Unfortunately, there is no information yet about which countries are the target markets for the Jetour Zongheng G700. In Indonesia, the Chery sub-brand currently only has two gasoline-powered SUV models, the Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus.
It is possible that this premium model will be offered to the Indonesian market. If we look, several Chinese manufacturers offer offroad SUVs with hybrid or BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) technology.
For example, the Chery J6 electric car. Then GWM has one Jeep-style offroad model, the GWM Tank 300, priced at Rp 800 million and above, but it is a hybrid, not a BEV.
The latest news is that Jetour Indonesia is interested in bringing in the offroad series with gasoline and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) engines. However, the exact timing is not yet known.
