Jetour plans to build its own factory in Indonesia, currently still using Handal's facilities.
KatadataOTO – Jetour is one of the Chinese manufacturers entering Indonesia in 2024. Unlike other Chinese brands, they chose to introduce gasoline cars first.
All Jetour vehicles have started to be locally assembled or are in Completely Knocked Down (CKD) status, utilizing the assembly facilities of PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM).
A number of domestic automotive manufacturers have started building factories independently to maximize their production capacity.
Jetour itself has confirmed that building an independent factory is their long-term vision.
“However, for now, we see the partnership with Handal as the most effective way to reach consumers more quickly,” said Moch. Ranggy Radiansyah, Marketing Director of PT Jetour Motor Indonesia, when met in Tangerang on Thursday (18/12).
It is possible that sales volume will be an important consideration before building an independent factory.
For context, throughout 2025, Jetour's retail sales in Indonesia (distribution from dealers to consumers) were 664 units.
This figure is a combination of their two inaugural Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) models, namely the X70 Plus and Dashing.
All of them are already locally assembled. In the future, their newest product, the Jetour T2, will also be assembled domestically.
This helps make the selling price of the Jetour T2 more competitive, at around Rp 500 million on the road in Jakarta.
Ranggy emphasized that from the beginning of its presence, Jetour has planned to locally assemble its entire product line for consumers.
“We want Jetour products to be developed in Indonesia, specifically for Indonesian consumers,” Ranggy affirmed.
For your information, Jetour currently offers three models in the country, including the X70 Plus, Dashing, and T2. All of them are conventional engine cars.
But in the future, Jetour plans to bring in a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) variant of the T2, as a form of support for the Net Zero Emission plan initiated by the government.
If the conventional Jetour T2 is sold for around Rp 500 million, the PHEV version will be offered at a price range of around Rp 800 million on the road in Jakarta.
