BYD Sealion 05 EV is registered with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property and could potentially appear at GIIAS 2025.
KatadataOTO – A model suspected to be the BYD Sealion 05 EV was recently revealed to have been registered on the DGIP (Directorate General of Intellectual Property) website.
At a glance, its design looks similar to the BYD Atto 3, but there are some differences in the details of the fascia and door handles.
The electric car is part of the Ocean series, several models of which have been launched in Indonesia, such as the Dolphin, Seal, and Sealion 07.
An extended LED bar that frames the headlight area is one of the hallmarks of the Sealion 05 EV, distinguishing it from other Ocean series models.
In terms of size, the BYD Sealion 05 EV is not much different from the Atto 3, with a length of 4,520 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, a height of 1,630 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
The Sealion 05 EV is built on BYD's new platform, which was just launched in May 2024. It is claimed that this makes the car charge faster and have more capable performance.
There are three variants offered to consumers. The lowest type is equipped with an electric motor producing 140 kW (187.7 hp) and 330 Nm of torque, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.6 seconds.
Meanwhile, the two higher variants are more powerful at 160 kW (214.5 hp) and a peak torque of 330 Nm, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 7.2 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels (RWD/rear-wheel drive).
