KatadataOTO – At the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 event, pre-orders for the Lepas L8 have been opened. This car comes with various attractions as a new way to enjoy travel.
In terms of appearance, for example, the Lepas L8 comes with a sturdy and futuristic design. The car's fascia is designed to provide an exotic value, such as the use of Leopard-Eye Headlights, Semi-concealed Door Handles, and Full LED Taillights.
Inside the cabin, the manufacturer has designed it to maintain driving comfort. One way is by placing buttons in ideal positions so the driver can adapt quickly.
However, above all, the use of the LEX Platform is one of the main keys. This architecture was created as both the frame and the ‘brain’ of the vehicle, making the car more comfortable yet efficient.
The most easily felt benefit of using the LEX Platform is that the manufacturer can make the cabin more spacious. This is because the Lepas L8's wheelbase reaches 2,800 mm even though the car's length is relatively compact at 4,688 mm.
The LEX Platform also has excellent NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) quality. Engine vibrations, tire noise, and wind rush are reduced to feel smooth.
Not only that, the LEX Platform combines a turbo engine and an electric motor that produce up to 205 kW (274 hp) of power and 365 Nm of torque. Acceleration feels responsive from the initial press of the pedal, yet remains smooth and measured.
This performance remains efficient as it is equipped with an 18.4 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. Thanks to this, the car can travel about 100 km in electric mode.
When long-distance travel is needed, the PHEV architecture on this platform provides a total range of up to 1,300 km (WLTC). Its charging is also flexible: 40 kW DC Fast Charging allows charging from 30 percent to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
Driving safety was also a concern in the development of the Lex Platform. This is because the vehicle frame uses 26 percent hot-formed steel, creating a sturdy safety cage to maintain the cabin's integrity.
However, in the event of an incident, the LEX Platform has five impact energy distribution paths. Thanks to this, the collision force is absorbed and diverted away from the passengers.
Additionally, the battery area is protected by an underbody cross-beam, complete with an automatic power cut-off system that activates during a collision. This combination makes the Lepas L8 provide a sense of peace of mind.
