KatadataOTO – The production of the Toyota bZ4X in Indonesia is believed to heat up the competition for electric vehicles in the country. This is because the public will have more model choices than before.

Moreover, Toyota has confirmed it will sell it at a lower price than before. Thus, the competition in the electric vehicle segment will become tighter.

“After being produced locally, the price of the Toyota bZ4X will be lower than before. But how much, we cannot say yet,” said Jap Ernando Demily, Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor at GIIAS 2025.

Producing the Toyota bZ4X itself was not an easy step for them. This is because they had to ensure the infrastructure was ready before deciding to start domestic production.

“The public's response to electric vehicles, especially the bZ4X, has been quite good, so we think we really have to bring it to the people," he said.

Not only that, he also revealed that Toyota has not just been selling but also building the industry. This commitment has been shown for decades and has employed hundreds of thousands of people.

"We are here to prove that Toyota will indeed produce electric vehicles locally in Indonesia. Because this will have many positive impacts, such as job creation and investment movement," he added.

It was previously reported that Toyota brought the bZ4X to the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025. The car is planned to be produced locally.

The car is also equipped with a thin LED bar connecting the DRL (Daytime Running Light), making it look sleeker.

Inside the cabin, Toyota has installed a 14-inch infotainment screen ready to pamper passengers during the journey. Additionally, the car is equipped with a dual wireless charger and 64-color ambient lighting.

The Toyota bZ4X FWB version uses a 74.7 kWh capacity battery, enough to travel a distance of 505 km. Its charging is also relatively fast, as it only takes about 30 minutes to go from 10 percent to 80 percent.

Although it is already produced locally, the Toyota bZ4X is expected to not yet use many domestic components. However, it is hoped that the number will increase over time.
