KatadataOTO – During long holidays, many people go out of town and experience many incidents. One of them is accidents, ranging from minor to severe.

So it is not surprising that after long holidays like Christmas and New Year, there will be an increase in insurance claims.

“There is an increase in claims because after the holidays, there are usually incidents. But currently, the numbers are not yet known because the process is still ongoing,” said Laurentius Iwan Pranoto, Head of PR, Marcomm, & Event of Insurance Astra to KatadataOTO (02/01).

He also revealed that the increase in claims is usually very noticeable in the first week after a long holiday.

“Under normal conditions, it's usually from Monday to Sunday. Whereas after a long holiday like Christmas and New Year or Eid, it's in the first few weeks after returning to work,” he then added.

He also reminded insurance users to always report incidents. This step must be taken no later than five days after the incident occurs.

“To file a report, you can use several available facilities such as Garda Centers and Service Points in a number of malls. They remain open even on public holidays, providing convenience for customers,” he then added.

Insurance Claim Procedure

  • Report the incident involving the vehicle along with a brief chronology of events. The applicant must submit it no later than five days after the incident.
  • Do not forget to save the report number provided by the officer via text message. This is to make it easier for the owner during the survey process
  • Next, the vehicle will be surveyed and its damage inspected by an officer. After that, the customer is asked to determine the repair time and the desired workshop.

  • After the inspection is completed and the customer has determined the repair location, a Work Order (SPK) will be issued. This letter will then be submitted to the workshop.
  • The car is delivered by the customer to the workshop as agreed. If the car's damage is severe, the vehicle can be picked up by an officer.
  • Once the work is completed, the car is ready to be picked up by the owner.

To avoid waiting too long, vehicle owners are advised to make an appointment before going to the workshop. Ensure that there is not a long queue so the work can be started promptly.
