KatadataOTO – Garda Oto introduced their newest product, Garda Me Micro, to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the city of Batam. The product offers protection to consumers in the event of a traffic accident.
This is considered important because MSME entrepreneurs generally have a fairly high risk of being involved in accidents. Therefore, additional protection can reduce future burdens, especially for the families left behind.
Not only was the product introduced, but participants were also given Garda Me Micro policies directly. The hope is that the community can have more peace of mind in their business endeavors.
Besides introducing the policy, Garda Oto, which is part of Asuransi Astra, also provides guidance to MSME entrepreneurs. This time, they held a financial literacy and inclusion program for MSME entrepreneurs under the guidance of Kampung Berseri Astra (KBA) Tua Bakau Serip, Batam.
The activity is expected to demonstrate the company's concern for ensuring that all community businesses can grow and develop sustainably.
Moreover, MSMEs in Indonesia contribute more than 60 percent to the GDP and are able to absorb up to 97 percent of the workforce. This shows the important role of MSMEs in the economy.
However, based on OJK data, about 90 percent of MSMEs have not been reached by formal financing and more than 70 percent of them lack understanding of financial literacy. With this background, financial education becomes key to making them more resilient in facing future business challenges.
Not only that, they also explained the importance of insurance as financial protection for business owners.
“Financial management is not just about saving and investing, but also about protecting our business and ourselves to remain stable in the face of financial risks,” he said on the sidelines of the event (23/06).
Meanwhile, Djoko Nugroho Anindito, VP Governance, Risk Management and Compliance of Asuransi Astra, revealed that this step is also the company's effort to meet customer needs.
“The hope is that with this literacy activity, MSMEs can become more confident and financially prosperous,” he emphasized.
