KatadataOTO – After a series of trials, the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police has finally started operating the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) Drone. This facility will be named the Precision Patrol ETLE Drone
Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, revealed that this ETLE Drone can enhance the institution's ability to maintain traffic order.
"We use the Precision Patrol ETLE Drone to reach violation-prone spots that are difficult to monitor. It is also a preventive effort to increase public awareness and discipline in traffic," he said, as reported by Antara (10/01).
He also explained that drone technology has several advantages. This is because aerial surveillance is conducted in real time, is accurate, and is well-documented.
Therefore, every violation can be acted upon based on valid data, avoiding potential irregularities in the law enforcement process. The Precision Patrol ETLE Drone operation began on Friday (09/01), involving a special team from the Law Enforcement Directorate of the National Police Traffic Corps.
The inaugural activity was carried out in the Raya Cibubur road area, focusing on monitoring vehicle flow and traffic violations at prone spots.
Based on initial implementation data, 18 traffic violations were successfully recorded by the ETLE drone camera in a short time.
The violations were dominated by two-wheeled vehicle riders who did not comply with basic safety rules, thus potentially endangering themselves and other road users.
Although effective, he revealed that the Precision Patrol ETLE Drone is not only for enforcement. This facility can also serve as a means of education and early warning for the public to be more compliant with traffic regulations.
It was previously reported that the Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police revealed that Static and Mobile ETLE tickets increased in 2025. This growth shows the effectiveness of the facilities they use.
The report stated that Static ETLE tickets saw a growth of 44 percent. Meanwhile, Mobile ETLE tickets grew by 61 percent.
Police Commissioner Komarudin, Traffic Director of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, explained that in 2025, there were 227,626 recorded cases of static ETLE. Whereas in 2024, only 157,970 violations were recorded.
“Meanwhile, Mobile ETLE violations in 2025 were recorded at 27,317 cases, higher than in 2024 which only had 16,951 incidents,” he said while presenting traffic data in the 2025 Year-End Release of the Metro Jaya Regional Police.
