KatadataOTO – PT EMI (Eurokars Motor Indonesia) officially launched a new electrified model on Wednesday (22/1), namely the Mazda CX-80 PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). This is their first PHEV model in the Indonesian market.

Although it is an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), the CX-80 is claimed to still offer the comfort of an MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle), making it suitable for family mobility in urban areas.

“We understand very well that every journey has its own meaning. Therefore, Mazda always presents vehicles that are not only comfortable but also connect the vehicle to the driver physically and emotionally,” said Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer of PT EMI in Jakarta, on Wednesday.

As a PHEV, the latest Mazda CX-80 gets an additional driving range of 60 km from the battery and electric motor when using EV Mode.

This launch is also a form of Mazda's commitment to presenting a product line in the premium segment, becoming a flagship and the first PHEV introduced by PT EMI in the domestic market.

This technology is different from the mild hybrid previously embedded in earlier Mazda products like the CX-60. As a PHEV, the car can be refueled with gasoline and also charged.

In terms of design, the Mazda CX-80 PHEV is still identical to its predecessor, the CX-60. However, its size is slightly larger, with dimensions of L x W x H at 4,990 mm x 1,890 mm x 1,713 mm.

The CX-80 PHEV still carries the Kodo Design philosophy, which is one of Mazda's identities. While the CX-60 emphasizes a sporty impression, the CX-80 PHEV combines luxury and comfort by highlighting a sense of strength and elegance.

Regarding the powertrain, the car is equipped with a 2,500 cc four-cylinder DOHC e-SKYACTIV PHEV engine, allowing it to produce 322 hp and 500 Nm of torque, distributed to all wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The CX-80 PHEV is sold for Rp 1.19 billion OTR (On The Road) Jakarta, with two variants available at the same price: the CX-80 Elite and the CX-80 Kuro.

The Elite type features a chrome signature wing around the grille with a distinctive insignia emblem, while its interior uses nappa leather material for the seats.

Meanwhile, the Kuro Edition has a darker appearance with a black chrome signature wing, while its interior combines black and brown colors for a more luxurious feel.
