Ministry of Industry's Director General for Metal, Machinery, Transportation, and Electronics Attends Toyota Hybrid Car World Premiere

KatadataOTO – PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) held the world premiere of its newest hybrid EV product, the New Toyota Veloz Hybrid EV, at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025, on Friday (21/11/2025) at ICE, BSD City, Tangerang.

This historic moment was also witnessed by the Director General of ILMATE of the Ministry of Industry, Setia Diarta, accompanied by TAM executives, including TAM President Director Hiroyuki Ueda; President Director of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, Nandi Julyanto; Vice President Director Henry Tanoto, along with other TAM directors, namely Hiroyuki Oide.

Produced locally by Toyota Indonesia, the New Veloz Hybrid EV further strengthens Toyota Indonesia's commitment to presenting quality, environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles to support sustainable mobility for the people of Indonesia. 

The presence of this flagship MPV for Indonesian families is part of Toyota's Multi-Pathway strategy, which further enriches the electrification lineup while also meeting the needs of Indonesian families.

With its local production status, Setia Diarta appreciated Toyota's strategy in Indonesia to increase the local production of environmentally friendly cars. Not only the New Veloz Hybrid EV, but also the New Toyota bZ4X Battery EV.

The Minister of Industry optimistically welcomed the trust given by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) to Toyota Indonesia to assemble the pure electric car in Indonesia. This achievement affirms the joint commitment to developing a sustainable automotive industry and supporting the transformation of an environmentally friendly mobility ecosystem in the country.

It should be noted that the New Veloz Hybrid EV uses a 1.5L engine with the code 2NR-VEX. The powertrain is still paired with an NMC battery.

Using the New Veloz Hybrid EV, consumers do not need to bother looking for a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU).

Because this car relies on an automatic self-charging system and is believed to be able to increase fuel efficiency. Moreover, the system has proven effective in previous hybrid models such as the Yaris Cross and Innova Zenix.
