KatadataOTO – Based on Gaikindo data, car sales in Indonesia in October 2025 experienced growth. Total retail sales amounted to 74,720 units, an increase compared to September which only saw 63,752 units.
This increase also had a positive impact on the sales of pickup trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight or GVW of less than 5 tons. Demand in this segment has managed to grow quite significantly again.
Throughout October 2025, at least 10,818 units were successfully delivered from dealers to customers. This figure is an increase compared to the previous month, which only sold 10,270 units.
This achievement also means that retail sales of pickup trucks have consistently grown for five consecutive months. Thus, the total sales from January – October 2025 amounted to 88,874 units.
That achievement is equivalent to 13.1 percent of the national market.
This positive trend was not only seen in retail sales. Pickup wholesales in October 2025 also recorded positive results.
It was recorded that pickup truck wholesales surpassed 10,000 units for the first time in 2025. Throughout October 2025, at least 10,302 units were successfully shipped from the factory to dealers.
This number is an increase compared to last month's 9,933 units. Thus, pickup truck wholesales from January to October 2025 reached 82,127 units.
The total pickup segment contributed 12.9 percent to the national market. This record also marks five consecutive months of consistent growth for pickup truck wholesales.
In general, the four-wheeled vehicle market in Indonesia has experienced a decline compared to the previous year. From January to October 2025, retail sales only reached 660,659 units.
This number is smaller than the same period last year, which reached 710,406 units.
However, the initial sales target for 2025 was 900,000 units, a difference of 239,341 units with two months remaining. Therefore, Gaikindo is open to the possibility of revising the target.
“There will be a revision after all members agree,” said Jongkie Sugiarto, Chairman I of Gaikindo, to KatadataOTO on Monday (10/11).
