KatadataOTO – Vehicle sales in Indonesia in September 2025 did experience a decline compared to the previous month. This is evident from Gaikindo data released some time ago.

However, pickup truck sales in Indonesia actually experienced quite good growth. The positive record from the commercial segment is expected to be a breath of fresh air and spur the growth of the national vehicle industry.

Still based on Gaikindo data, retail sales of pickup trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight or GVW of less than 5 tons reached 10,270 units. That figure is a significant increase compared to last month's 9,735 units.

This number is even the largest sales of pickup trucks throughout January to September 2025.

The total sales of pickup trucks from January to September 2025 amounted to 76,056 units, equivalent to 13 percent of the total vehicle market in the country over the last 9 months.

The situation is not much different when compared to wholesales. It was recorded that 9,933 units of pickup trucks with a GVW of less than 5 tons were sent from the factory to dealers, a slight increase from the previous 9,682 units.

Total wholesales of pickup trucks from January to September 2025 amounted to 71,765 units, or 12.8 percent of the national car market.

The production number of pickup trucks in the ninth month also recorded positive results, as 9,798 units were successfully made in Indonesia.

That figure is the largest during the January to September 2025 period. Thanks to this, a total of 72,329 vehicle units have been produced in the country.

It should be noted that total retail vehicle sales in Indonesia in September 2025 amounted to 63,723 units. This figure is down 4.20 percent compared to retail sales in August 2025.

Of that number, 4x2 cars with engines under 1,500 cc became the largest segment with sales of 27,261 units. Thanks to this, sales in that segment reached 42.9 percent of the total national market.
