Stargazer Cartenz is claimed to dominate Hyundai's bookings during GIIAS 2025, helping to boost sales in Indonesia.
KatadataOTO – PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) claims to have recorded positive results at the GIIAS 2025 event. Their newest model, the Stargazer Cartenz, dominated the order numbers.
The product is a refreshed version of the Stargazer, which was previously launched in 2022 and is claimed to have received a positive response from consumers.
This comes as a breath of fresh air for Hyundai amidst the weakening purchasing power of the public in the automotive sector.
“At GIIAS 2025, we introduced the Cartenz, and it has helped our sales,” said Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of PT HMID in Tangerang some time ago.
Amidst Chinese brands aggressively lowering car prices and introducing new models, Hyundai revealed that it has prepared a strategy.
They prefer to refresh existing models based on consumer feedback from 2022.
As was previously done with the Creta. This refreshed SUV version is claimed to have received a good response, helping to maintain Hyundai's market share above three percent.
“If I'm not mistaken, 18 percent of (consumers) felt that the front or rear appearance (of the Stargazer) was not quite right,” Frans continued.
The addition of features to the vehicle, such as Smart Cruise Control, is also claimed to be a special attraction. Thus, the model is in demand by customers.
Although the total number of vehicle order letters (SPK) collected has not been detailed, Frans confirmed that 50 percent of them are for the Stargazer Cartenz.
“There is no (breakdown between the Stargazer Cartenz and the Stargazer Cartenz X) yet,” Frans asserted.
Seeing the market conditions that do not seem to be improving, Frans revealed that they will adapt by introducing new products.
Throughout 2024, PT HMID is said to still be introducing at least one new model, either an electric or hybrid car.
“We are currently planning, there might be some new products. There is one that is still being debated, but it will not be Completely Knocked Down (CKD),” said Frans.
He emphasized that the next product will not be a conventional or gasoline-engine car, as a form of support for the government's electrification commitment.
For your information, Hyundai's electric car lineup consists of the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kona Electric. Meanwhile, its hybrid models are the Santa Fe, Tucson, and the newest Palisade.
