Suzuki Fronx and Satria have been officially exported to various ASEAN countries because they have met global standards.
KatadataOTO – The Suzuki Fronx has officially been exported to various countries. The compact SUV is planned to penetrate the ASEAN market.
During a ceremony held at the Suzuki factory in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, the target number of units to be shipped was announced.
Along with the Fronx, PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM) is also exporting the latest generation of the Suzuki Satria.
“The inaugural export of the Fronx and Satria is a tangible form of Indonesia's readiness to compete in the international market. We produce vehicles with global standards and are able to adapt to the regulations of the destination countries,” said Minoru Amano, President Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) in his speech (18/11).
The export activity of these two flagship models from Suzuki Indonesia is intended to provide a positive injection to the country's foreign exchange reserves.
For the first phase, it was stated that the Suzuki Fronx export will amount to 30 thousand units. Meanwhile, the Suzuki Satria export is targeted at 150 thousand units.
The figures above represent the cumulative volume target until 2027.
As an SUV, the Suzuki Fronx is believed to be able to compete with other products in ASEAN countries. Moreover, the global SUV trend continues to grow.
“Currently, the destination for the Fronx model is still within ASEAN. Such as Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam,” said Domu Arisanto, Manager of Export at PT SIM in Cikarang.
Suzuki Indonesia's first export began in 1993. The Carry Futura and RC100 were the leading products of the Japanese brand at that time.
Overall, car exports this year are around 40 thousand cars and 30 thousand motorcycles.
Vehicle exports are divided into two categories, namely CBU (Completely Built Up) and CKD (Completely Knock Down).
Furthermore, it was stated that the brand with the S logo has now exported 0.8 million cars and 1.5 million motorcycles.
The export destination countries are diverse, ranging from Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Oceania, Africa, to Europe.
It is claimed that almost all Suzuki models marketed in Indonesia are also exported. This means that cars and motorcycles from the domestic market are also relied upon by the global market.
Although it has been officially exported, it was stated that the supply of the Suzuki Fronx for the domestic market remains guaranteed.
